Anna Henkel (editor)The term "responsibility" is on everyone's lips: the consumers' responsibility for sustainability, the corporates' responsibility in an international context, the social responsibility in the face of new technologies. However, this term is anything but self-evident - especially, taking into account that this word is only in everyday usage since the 20th century. The contributors to this volume, therefore, use the responsibility of science, politics and consumers as an example to show from a sociological and interdisciplinary perspective how responsibility is related to power, culture and morality. Doing so, the concept of responsibility itself is also negotiated.
